“ THE FACE ON THE BAR ROOM FLOOR”.

On the 63rd floor the angels Tess and Monica are watching the society party of Everett Clay.
They have a nice conversation about going back to Monica’s roots.
Tess asks  Monica to go back about hundred years ago:
to Jack Clay in 1893.
She points at the host and says:
”That’s Everett, Jack’s great-grandson!”
Some people have to go the same way as their ancestors.

JUST IN TIME

Now you’re here and now I know just where ‘m going,
No more doubt no fear.
I found my way and love came just in time.
You found me just in time and changed my lonely life
that lovely day.
And changed my life that lonely day.

There is a meeting between Tess and Everett.  In a flash Everett looks at the girl friend of his son Carson. He is more interested in Tess, who is telling she is passing through!  Meanwhile Everett gets an invitation to come to Colorado from his friends Karla and Simon.
They say: “ Aspen is always yours,  if you come to Colorado!”
The friends are talking to Tess and tell her, they heard “ The Clay family even made buttons!”
The big surprise of the party is the appearance of the octogenarian Benjamin Clay, he still runs the family business and comes to chastise his son and grandson about their wasteful ways of life.
Benjamin doesn’t like society party’s. Parenthetically Benjamin tells Everett his boat sunk of the cost of Spain. Immediately Everett worries about all the design in the boat instead of all the human beings on the boat. Carson took 5 million dollars in an internet experience, which has no consent of grandfather Benjamin.
He is commanding Everett to come to the office at 9 o’clock in the morning.
In the office Everett gets a sermon of the Bible story ‘The Prodigal Son’.
In this story the son also squanders his fortune.
Benjamin’s reminder is: The family company started by carving  handmade buttons; his great grandfather carved the buttons and Benjamin tells Everett he is disinherited to learn the importance of self-reliance and hard work and hands him the framed deerskin jacket
of his great grandfather. That man knew the secret!
On the sidewalk in front of the office Everett is angry, disappointed and the discovery of his direct poverty makes him furious. He buts the frame and throws the deerskin jacket and his not working phone in the bin. Coincidentally Tess appears, she is understanding all about being disinherited and offers him a ride to Colorado to visit his friends.
For Everett it is a little strange to go in an old Cadillac instead of by plane! She even told him to take the jacket, the one he threw away, because the nights can be a little chilly.
They are traveling together and are passing the different states.
Welcome to Ohio.
The Buckeye State.
Tess is driving straight on and meanwhile she is singing “ She will be  coming around the mountains, when she comes……” Everett is sleeping.
In the morning Tess welcomes Everett to Colorado.
Welcome to Central City.
They stop before the ‘Teller House’. Everett wants to know how far Aspen is, but he even wants some breakfast. In the Teller House Tess shows Everett the face on the bar room floor.
“Who is she?” “You never heard of the face on the bar room floor?” “No”.
“ Some people say, it is the lost love of a miner, who drew her to pay his bar bill.” “Then some people say all is a practical joke by a traveling sign painter”. They spent years to figure out how she got here”.
“But she is beautiful!” “It is a shame nobody knows who she was.”
“I did not say that, I know who she was!”
“She was a friend of Jack Clay, your great grand father”.
“And how would you know that?” “I’m a history buff!”
“Now let me ask you a question!” “That deerskin jacket that you almost threw away on the sidewalk?” “ That was his, wasn’t it?”
“And there was a button missing, wasn’t it?  “Yes”. “And do you want to know why?” “I must admit it is somewhat intriguing, but frankly I rather have go on the road to Aspen, I’m not so interested in my family tree.”
“Well, excuse me for saying so, but you are not being interested in your family tree is what you got on the road in the first place.”
“Why don’t you just sit down, have a cup of coffee and listen to a nice little story!”
Everett excepts the invitation.

This face: her name was Monica and she worked right here in the Teller House Saloon.

Flash back to 1893.
Monica is looking through the window! “He is coming!”
Jack Clay, ‘Snakebite’ arrives.

Back in 2000.
Tess is telling Everett the story,
“Central City was a great big silver town or was it gold….but that doesn’t matter!” Everett is joking: “But you are a history buff!”
“Do you want to here this story or not?”
“Your great grandfather was not a bad man…. But he wasn’t a happy man either….!”
He was just trying to get along….and made a big strike and all the bad decisions he made….

Flash back in 1893.
Jack enters the saloon and wants a drink; he offers his bottle of elixir to get something strong’s….
The bartender Andrew and Jack have a talk about drinks and Andrew gives him a drink of the house.
Jack is listening to the piano and gets a wonderful idea.

NEXT: He entertains the saloon and will sing the next song.
