The Slipper and The Rose.

Excellent musical-film version of the story of Cinderella based on the book 'The Slipper and the Rose' by Bryan Forbes and completed by the wonderful songs of the Sherman brothers.

After her father's death Cinderella is forced by her stepmother to do all the work in the house. Meanwhile The Royal Court arranges a Bride Finding ball for Prince Edward.
The King and the Queen want him to marry a Princess from the neighbouring country.

The Prince refusses, he wants to marry for love.
But as laid down in the law the Prince has to do his duty.
At first he is boring at the ball, but when with the interference of the godmother the Princess Incognito arrives, magic is all around as well. They fall in love! At twelve o'clock the magic wears off and the Prince looses Cinderella. He can't find her anywhere.

After a time of searching and fitting of the shoe Princess Incognito lost at the ball, Prince Edward is desperate and throws the shoe out of the window. Magic is coming again.
Cinderella's dog finds her shoe and the servant of the Prince sees Cinderella dancing with it.
Soon the Prince and Cinderella are together in love and hapiness.
The Prince tells his parents he wants to marry this girl, Cinderella. However the law forbids him to marry an Euphranian girl, otherwise there will be a war.
So the King has a job to do: the disappearance of Cinderella.
Prince Edward looses her for the second time.
He is forced in a marriage without Cinderella.

During the wedding-ceremony Cinderella appears, again with the interference of the godmother and it isn't too late for a marriage between her and the Prince. In the church they fall in love again.

The Princess of the neighbouring country and the Prince's cousin, the Duke of Montague fall also in love.
The King has power to rewrite the law.

A happy end for all.
