Christmas Messenger

Storyteller:
It is said that every day on Christmas this Angel
returns to earth to listen to the carols,
which are to him the continuing echo’s of this Message
that might so long it goes…..
But until last Christmas Eve I had forgotten all about
of the legend of the Christmas Messenger.

People had gathered around the children who
were singing carols in the street.
But I had no wish to stop.
Indeed I would have passed them by if a stranger to our village
had not been standing in my way.

He was listening so intently to the carols. I felt they had far more meaning for him, than they had ever had for me. I was almost afraid to disturb him.

Christmas Messenger:
So you startled me…
The snow deadens the sound of footsteps so…
but that is fortunate for our young friends.

Storyteller:
Yet, the stranger had been waiting for me…. It seems!

Christmas Messenger:
How sweet and clear the voices sound tonight.
Come, why don’t you drop closer?
What need is there to hide in the shadows?
Is it not that time of year when even strangers
may walk together and listen to the carols?
