The Gilded Age:
From Rags to Riches

Richard Chamberlain
(special guest narrator)

Dvorák, Mahler, and Tchaikovsky paid visits
to our young nation as Wharton, Twain, and Henry
James chronicled the period's cultural currents
and fashions in their novels.

A celebration of the Berkshire link to this glittering
age (1880-1920) when America began to assert
musical independence from Europe,
and its first families built their palatial "cottages."
An all-star evening featuring Dvorák's
American Quartet, Mahler songs, Tchaikovsky's
Andante for Strings, and works by Zez Confrey,
Amy Beach, the best of ragtime-and
readings weaving it all together.

Artists:  Cho-Liang Lin (violin),
John Musto (piano),
Amy Burton (soprano),
Yehuda Hanani (cello).
