" man will not merely endure:
he will prevail..........because he has a soul,
a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice and endurance"

William Faulkner

Allen, a struggling young artist who once survived by working in the streets.
Now he is involved with Eva.
Eva is a young, wealthy gallery owner;  Allen has his shows in her gallery.
She thinks Allen has to find another direction in his art.
Quite by a big surprise Allen receives a visit from an old john: Thaddeus.
In former days Allen and Thaddeus lived together.

Thaddeus, an old lawyer, who is dying from aids, has come to spend his last days somewhere humble and spare.
Allen reluctantly takes him in, straining his relationship with Eva.
When Thaddeus is asleep, Allen makes pictures of the sleeping Thaddeus and
he even makes drawings of this well known face.

Allen becomes his new direction in art: ”a dying face”!
Eve discovers slowly the truth about the past of Allen and Thaddeus.
Thaddeus implores Allen to find Jaimie, a young hustler.
Once Thaddeus had tried to rescue Jaimie.
He is the son of a ex model and a Buddhist monk.
Jaimie wants to raise enough money to visit his father.
Allen has to return to the streets!
He must choose between what he left behind and the uncertainty that lies ahead!

There is a perceptive look at the relationship between young male prostitutes
and their much older, mostly rich clients (’johns’).
Thaddeus wants to spend his last days with the only two persons he loved,
the two young hustlers Allen and Jaimie.

While Thaddeus has a nice dialogue with Eva sitting on a bench
Allen finds Jaimie, both were involved in unpleasant situations with clients.
Jaimie  and Thaddeus meét each other. Thaddeus asks
Jaimie to read in his Buddha book, because he likes it so much.
In the meantime Thaddeus takes pills for his ‘journey’.

When Allen comes home Thaddeus is already dead.
Allen and Jaimie had a disagreement about Thaddeus’ death.
But they bring it about a reconciliation.
